Information Concepts developed the IRS Notebook desktop application for the Small Business/Self-Employed (SB/SE) BOD, Excise Tax Division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Notebook Application provides Excise Tax Revenue Agents with a compiled library of forms. This library includes the forms used by the Excise Tax in the audit process, with the forms associated with activity codes. Revenue Agents were provided, from within Notebook, the ability to enter common fields associated with the audit (such as Taxpayer and Examiner information). Based on a user’s request a custom directory of Forms could be created for the audit, and be pre-populated with the common fields collected. The pre-population of common fields was designed to reduce the data entry required by Revenue Agents. The Notebook application also deploys the custom directory of Forms into a logical directory structure on a Revenue Agent’s workstation. This logical directory structure makes it easy for Revenue Agents to upload the forms into the IMS system. Notebook was developed in Microsoft Access using VBA and SQL.
